On Wednesday, July 8, the Education and Military and Veterans Affairs Committees of CSG East co-hosted a webinar on the VALLO program, a U.S. Department of Labor-funded initiative.

The VALLO project – Veterans Accelerated Learning for Licensed Occupations – seeks to both improve and create new pathways to occupational licensure for veterans and transitioning service members by recognizing the education and experience they earned during their terms of service.

Many military jobs have requirements that are in line with the licensure requirements for similar civilian jobs. Many of these jobs come from the healthcare field, a sector of the workforce that is particularly relevant to state leaders right now.

Representative Earl Jaques of Deleware served as the host for this webinar. As the chair of both the House Education and the House Veterans Affairs Committees in Delaware, Representative Jaques was an ideal choice and a wonderful host.

We were also joined by Alexander Nallin at the U.S. Department of Labor, and Amy Stone and Alanna Wilson, the VALLO project leads at Ivy Tech Community College and St. Francis University, respectively. These two institutions received the two 2019 VALLO grants from USDOL.
