Licensing requirements for teachers vary state to state, presenting challenges for teachers seeking to relocate across state lines. Teachers often experience difficulties with the portability of their certifications and face issues around their pensions and seniority status. States are increasingly seeking ways to respond to these issues through innovative policy solutions that preserve certification competencies, mitigate the unintended consequences of licensing regulations, and address workforce shortages.

Join education policy experts from the Education Commission of the States and the Council of Chief State School Officers to learn about state certification policies, barriers to portability, and emerging state solutions that promote mobility.

Speakers:

  • Senator Adam Pugh, Oklahoma State Senate
  • Teresa Mooney, senior program associate, Council of Chief State School Officers
  • Tiffany McDole, senior policy analyst, Education Commission of the States
  • Max Morley, policy analyst, The Council of State Governments, and education policy consultant, CSG East
