The Council of State Governments Eastern Regional Conference (CSG East), the Council on Communities of Color, and the 1890 Universities Foundation present the opening installment of a new micro summit series on Equitable Governance:

Innovating Hope: Maximizing HBCUs and State Government Partnerships

an HBCU Presidential Roundtable

This will be an extensive conversation on the current state of Historically Black College and University (HBCU) leadership and the importance of HBCUs in this decade. Building upon recent discussions on the level of federal support for HBCUs, particularly 1890 Universities, this event will further examine the relationship these state-level institutions have with state governments.

As policymakers tackle funding and policy decisions, we ask, “what is the relationship like with state governments?” Panelists and participants will explore questions including:

  • How do HBCUs innovate, and how do 1890 HBCU institutions plan for and manage their future?
  • How do we expand the HBCU talent pipeline to state governments and state legislatures?
  • How do 1890 institutions manage relationships with and secure funding from state governments?

In particular, participants will study recent examples provided by the states of Maryland and Tennessee.

The Equitable Governance Summits are CSG East CCC’s unique convening of state and local policymakers, experts, and thinkers in search of equitable governing solutions. This panel will take place via Zoom on Friday, February 25th, 10am – 11:30am ET. Participants will be able to watch virtually and ask questions.

REGISTER TODAY Registrants will receive a Zoom access link upon registration. Audience members will be able to ask questions by chat. Audience members are encouraged to discuss and share the panel on social media and can tag @CSG_ERC on Twitter and use the hashtag #CSGEAST.

This Equitable Governance Summit is organized by CSG East’s Council on Communities of Color in partnership with the 1890 Universities Foundation and the B|E note.
