Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to serve as CSG East’s 2023 co-chairs and preside over the 62^nd Annual Meeting and Regional Policy Forum, which will take place August 20-23, 2023, in Toronto, Ontario. The Annual Meeting affords CSG East members an extraordinary place to network, meet new colleagues, make new friends, and learn from each other how we can improve the future for our constituents. It is also a chance to explore the best that Ontario has to offer.

The theme for this year’s meeting is See the Other Side, based on the motto of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, “audi alteram partem” (hear the other side). Canada and the United States share economic ties, a dedication to democratic ideas, and a long-lasting friendship. The CSG East Annual Meeting has always fostered these ideals and the meeting’s theme in sharing policy ideas, whether between Canada and the United States or between member jurisdictions.

Now more than ever, the CSG East Annual Meeting is vital to strengthening our relationships and skill sets by bringing together government officials from across the region to explore policy issues affecting the East. The topics will include Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Canada-U.S. Relations, Council on Communities of Color, Education, Energy and Environment, Fiscal, Health, Military and Veterans Affairs, Territorial Relations, and Transportation, as well as general sessions and professional development.
