Unhoused: How can states solve the housing crisis?
CSG East Council on Communities of Color (CCC) Equitable Governance Micro Summit Series
The Council of State Governments Eastern Regional Conference (CSG East), the Council on Communities of Color, in partnership with ecoWURD and theBEnote.com present a new installment of the micro summit series on Equitable Governance:
Unhoused: How can states solve the housing crisis?
As the pandemic appears to transition into an uncertain endemic, a devastating housing crisis continues. Millions of Americans still face mounting rental debt and the inability to pay it back. Housing prices continue to surge in an environment reminiscent of the pre-Great Recession housing bubble. An accelerating trend of private investors buying up property and housing is stirring concern from residents, advocates, and policymakers. In the meantime, income inequality is widening, racial disparities are worsening, and fewer families — particularly among younger generations — can afford home ownership.
In “Unhoused: How can states solve the housing crisis?,” we convene a panel of policymakers, advocates, and educators to lead a solutions-based discussion on what states must do to address growing housing uncertainty. What policy solutions and models should state leaders consider? How can communities organize and collaborate with lawmakers? How do state leaders achieve a fully equitable solution?
